If you are looking for a family friendly event that you can get your children involved in you might want to consider investigating the world of remote control planes. RC planes are fun for the entire family, no matter what ages the children are. When they are still fairly small, they can enjoy watching the rc planes whizzing through the air. As the children get older they can take turns controlling the rc planes with their parents. Eventually, with enough keen interest, they can own their own rc planes and even join competitions.

There are remote control airplane groups all over the country. It is a very popular activity in many places, and is not strictly a male dominated activity. Young girls can be inspired to one day become real life pilots when they spend their formative years being enthralled with the magic of flight. RC planes offer both young boys and girls the opportunity to be intrigued and amazed by the wonder of flying machines. Whether they grow up to be an air force pilot or an aircraft maintenance technician, it can be this early exposure to flight that literally charts their course for their later years.

There are all sorts of interesting rc planes that a family can invest in. They can start off small with a tinier craft to get their feet wet and then slowly build up their experience and enthusiasm for the sport. Opting for a sturdily built craft in the beginning is always a good course of action as there may be a few mishaps along the ways as each family member learns how to control the craft accurately. Over time and with enough enthusiasm, the family can upgrade to larger rc planes that fly faster and have greater power.

If everyone continues to enjoy the sport there are tournaments and gatherings of all sorts that the family can attend together. Flying clubs and organizations that are dedicated to the sport are available all across the country. Family summer vacations can even be planned around these different tournaments and gatherings. Loading up the children and driving across the country to meet other flying enthusiasts is the stuff that childhood memories are made of.

A great way to get children interested early is to expose them to airplane related books and toys from the time that they are babies. If a parent has an interest in planes it is a logical step for them to want to introduce that love of flying to their children. When nap time stories revolve around the wonder of flying machines it is not a stretch to the imagination when rc planes become a part of everyday life as the child grows.

If i were to construct a model plane, and i was to create a small engine for it, what are some laws of flight that i should keep in mind? i.e. Bernoullis principles? anything will help, thanks everyone.

Best answer:

Answer by ExSarge
Most plastic model planes are designed to look right, and will be all wrong as to weight, center of gravity, center of lift etc. and will not fly at all.

Unless you are building a plane designed for flight, in which case any hobby shop owner will be gld to sell you kits, instructions, even a motor

With nitro cars there is a little more extra work to do than electric rc cars, but the speed nitro brings is awesome.

Below is a general round up on questions and answers on getting a nitro rc car and how to start them.

Q. What age are nitro radio controlled cars recommended for?
A. 14+ is best. But any younger than 14 you should be prepared to help them with the maintenance, and handle the fuel Nitro RC cars can be a great educational toy and introduction to engineering.

Q. What is the radio range?
A. About 100m but it’s always best to do a range check before use, or you could lose control of the vehicle

Q. How do I stop the engine on a nitro car ?
A. Just Cover the exhaust hole with finger or a cloth for a second or 2 and it will turn off.

Q. What kind of fuel do I use?
A. Fuel used is sold from model shops or online. Always use a good branded nitro fuel with a 10-30% content for normal usage.

Q. What speed do nitro RC cars do?

A. Nitro models can hit 60- 70 mph.

This is a serious hobby which brings great rewards so read on for information on all areas of buying and starting nitro RC s and more.

How To Run In Your Nitro Model

The engine needs to be Run-in before full-time use. It is very important that this procedure is carried out. Not doing so will shorten the life of the engine and can ruin it.

There are two different methods you can do to run the nitro engine in. The first way is easier and is also safer as you be less likely to burn the clutch out. I find this way best or with the second method it is more complicated but if done correctly will give a little more life to your nitro engine.

To run your car in, take your finished model and roll it back and forth to be certain the nitro car wheels can turn freely. Then Place the car in a position so that the wheels are off the ground, like on a brick and start the car up and leave to run idle though 3 tanks of fuel make sure between each tank you leave the engine to cool down for about 10 minutes. It is very important to not rev the engine at all as you will badly damage it and also you will break the conrods.

By doing this and taking the time to run your nitro RC car in properly you will have no problems.

The engine should be broken-in on a smooth hard surface. Try to avoid breaking-in the engine on very hot or humid days. Ensure that the idle speed is not too high or else you will burn your clutch out or snap the con rod, and also make sure that the brake is not applied.

Always break-in your engine without the body on the car, you want as much airflow as you can get to keep the engine cool. Do not run the engine too lean or you will over heat it and cause permanent damage to the internal components of the nitro engine.

It is normal for the engine to use a lot of fuel during the break-in. This is because you are running it “richer” than you normally would to keep the engine cool and to flush out the engine as the parts “seat” themselves. Because of the richer than normal setting the performance of the engine will be limited. After break-in, you will then lean it out to gain performance back..

Method 1:

Once it starts and is idling slowly place it on the ground and drive it slowly on a flat surface. For the first use do not let the engine run for more than 3 minutes. Carry on running slowly for short periods until you have gone through 2 – 3 tanks of fuel.

Do not over accelerate at all during this procedure, as it will severely damage the engine. After each idling time, let the nitro rc car rest for about 10 minutes between each tank. Running in makes sure that the engine is operating correctly before you take it out for a proper run. It is best not to run though any puddles or water as this could burn out the electrics but you can always tape up wires, use silicone on gaps and around the electric box and make sure the screws are all tight before and after each run as these can work loose and you could lose parts while running your car around a park or track.

Always empty the fuel after using as condensation can build up in the engine and damage it if left for a long time and always clean the wheels and ball joints and generally all over as a lot of dirt, sand or mud can build up. This does not take long and keeping the car clean and maintaining it will keep it running good and no money to keep buying spare parts, so it makes sense and also using normal batteries in the controller will run down pretty quick and once the batteries go to under 9V s you could lose control of car if using or worse crash it. Trust me get good rechargeable batteries and then you will always know you have a full charge and you will also save a lot of money in the long run.

Now you know how to break in a nitro RC car but one other thing is that the car will act strange and not run properly while you are using. Don’t panic this is normal and it will stall a lot, but this happens to every new car just keep with it and slightly adjust the tuning screw and it will become smooth and an easy ride. This is called “engine break-in” just like when you buy a real brand new car with no mileage on.

After a couple of tanks of fuel your patience will pay off with a strong, reliable running engine.

If you own a RC Nitro car then regular maintenance is a must..

1. Perform a visual inspection on your rc car -

Check there is no cracks in body or damage anywhere.

Tires are good check rims are still glued well.

2. Wipe down rc car with paper towels or cloth all over

and you can use a small toothbrush to get to awkward parts to clean.

3. Clean air filter with soapy water and rc air filter oil.

These can get real dirty an mud, debris can clog the filter up. You’re need

to wash all the parts and dry so make sure to be careful when taking the filter apart.

4. Draining the nitro fuel tank.

If you will not be using your rc nitro car for a while. it is always best to

Drain the nitro fuel out as condensation can build up and this water will mix with

The nitro fuel and seriously damage the engine.

5. Charge up batteries and check over the receiver control is ok.

Doing the above will save you time and money and should take no

Longer than around 40 – 60 minutes.

Becoming involved with a hobby which is as challenging as model railroading is can seem overwhelming if you are a beginner. This is a hobby where the novice will quickly discover that there are a number of skill sets which they will have to master, and a new vocabulary directly associated with model trains that is a must to learn. However, if there is a draw to this hobby these are the special qualities about model railroading which make it one of the more popular hobbies in the world.

In fact, the interest in model trains is constantly on the rise, and it captures the attention of people from every walk of life, age, and gender. However, there is a shared concern among many new hobbyist that model trains is a pastime which can become expensive, and in some ways this has the potential for being true. Holding costs down is frequently an important issue for the novice, and one way to accomplish this goal is to make your purchases at a model train hobby shop rather than a regular hobby shop.

If you are determined to shop for your model trains and accessories at your local hobby store the well known caveat “let the buyer beware” certainly applies. It isn’t that the employees of these stores aren’t well intentioned. The problem is that their knowledge about this hobby is more often than not of a limited nature. After all, they deal with more than one hobby in dealing with their customers, and expecting them to have the ability to answer specific questions about model railroading isn’t a reasonable expectation. Remember that the objective of any sales person is to sell as many of their products as they possibly can, and that will in all probability cause you to spend money that you may not have to if you make the mistake of going to a hobby store for you needs.

When you visit a model train hobby shop, you can rely on the fact that you’ll be interacting with an employee who has in depth knowledge about model trains, and who is also quite willing to be of assistance.

Before you ever consider buying anything for your future model train layout you should address a other few issues first. Research and good planning is and will continue to be the key to being a successful model railroader, and in knowing this there a few things you should decide before purchasing anything.

For example, are you going to buy a ready made model train set or are you going to build your model train layout from the ground up? If you buy a ready made kit and you have future plans for expanding your layout you’ll encounter some troubling problems. It is true that your kit may have everything you’ll need to get started but when you decide to expand, one of the first things you may discover is that your transformer doesn’t have the ability to power your trains. Although it may have been unintentional, you just set yourself up to incur an additional expense. The problem here is that advanced transformers are not inexpensive. Additionally, you may be planning a model train layout that is entirely to big, both for the space you have available and your budget.

These are just two of the problems that you may end up dealing with and both will cost you more money. The best advice is to do thorough research before committing to anything related to your model train layout, and when your satisfied with the results of your efforts, it is then time to visit a model train hobby shop. At the very least, even if your sales person is very knowledgeable, you’ll also be armed with the knowledge that will help you make the best decisions for your initial purchases.

Answer by kaceypi
Do you have the manual for it? In the manual it should show what the blinking sequences mean and give solutions on how to fix it. Usually you would just have to reprogram the ESC and it will work like normal. Or another option is that the ESC is burt up.

Best answer:

Answer by kaceypi
The Tower Hobbies catalog is great. It will have every brand you can think of (minus Losi for some reason) along with parts, electrics, planes and boats. I’ve been dealing with them for years and they do have some really good deals. Other than that, I don’t really know of a site that has catalogs for nitros. I just go to the site like Traxxas, HPI, Associated etc., and if I see something I like I’ll order it from Tower Hobbies. They have free shipping on RCs and on the home page there are coupon codes for extra $ $ $ off when ordering.

Question by donkeylips608: What is the best inrunner brushless motor for a rc boat?
I am doing an electronics project on my rc boat. I have to replace both the motors because they are both shot. Instead of replacing them with the factory made motors for that boat I wanted to upgrade to 2 better motors. I want them to be fast and efficient, but I also need them to be cheap. What is the best motor and where can I find it. Also, I am looking for a battery to replace the one that I have now. What is the best and cheapest battery that I can get?

Best answer:

Answer by Jack
I do not think it is a good idea to miss www.wantmotor.com， which is one of the best website to sell motor.

In the past, the RC helicopter hobby required a substantial amount of money to get started in.

Remote controlled helicopters was a hobby for the wealthy and wow, do they make plenty of noise! The RC helicopters were run on fuel and sounded close to what a chainsaw would. They were heavy, hard to pilot and costs a lot to maintain and fly. Things have changed since then as choppers got cheaper with new technology, lighter and easier to fly. They’ve also gone electric, powered by a Poly Lithium battery, rc helicopters now have long flight times without all the weight. They also come pre-built and that’s great if you’re a beginner not knowing how to build your own RC helicopter.

So what kind of helicopter can I get to start off with you ask?

Introducing the honey bee king 2 helicopter. This is the newest version of the exceptional Esky King remote control helicopter. Honey bee helicopter 2 is now built-in with belt motivated tail rotor system as well as an entirely low mainframe devise including upgraded struts/skids and battery holder.

The honey bee 2 helicopter or Esky 6 CH Honey Bee King 2 has preserved the tried and experienced elements that created the original truly dependable and satisfying to fly. Aside from the latest structural enhancements and belt drive, the Esky have customized the tail arrangement to provide an even greater receptive control.Possibly, this is the most excellent ready-to-soar helicopter you will ever purchase from the toy store.

CCPM is the mainly exact method to manage a cooperative pitch helicopter. The main motor is 23-1/2″ in diameter, with 20-1/2″ general length, and its flying weight is 14.2 oz. Honey bee king 2 is small in size and light weight joined with collective pitch as well as a streak driven tail providing stability and lenience with abundant performance attributes as your skills in piloting progress.

The entire main parts are pre-assembled. Its 120-degree CCPM head utilizes 3 servos to manage the collective pitch as well as the cyclic powers. After you have mastered the hovering movement and deliberate circuits in normal mode, shift to “idle up 1″ and the Honey bee king 2′s high performance motor contains abundant authority for sport flying and upturned flight. Its tail-boom is designed for ideal 90-degree placement of its tail rotor into the central rotor with no modifications.

Esky creates amazing helicopters, and with the latest Honey Bee King 2, it can fly up there together with other high-end models from several more luxurious manufacturers. Have your hands try and navigate this toy and surely you will have a blast.

Great thing about Honey Bee RC helicopters is the sheer availability of spare parts. They’re so easy to buy online these days and the prices are extremely reasonable these days. If you have wanted to try the RC helicopter hobby in the past, there’s no reason for you not to – Well not anymore! Startup prices for mini electric RC helicopters start at and upwards.
